Editing

Editing supports and uplevels your writing. A clean and clear edit helps your writing to shine and compels the reader to continue, wanting to consume more. Clarity and consistency elevates the overall readability of your words. From phrasing, to grammar, structure, insights, re-writes and suggestion—all writing benefits immensely from the editing process prior to publishing in any form.

Depending on the manuscript and needs of the client, my editing service covers:

Substantive editing looks at the entire manuscript, working to create an overall flow of language, connecting ideas, arguments and structure, identifying information that hasn't been clearly conveyed and includes re-writes where necessary.

Copyediting has a focus on the flow of grammar, punctuation and sentence structure for clear and concise expression. Also known as line editing, each word and line of writing is revised for readability and clarity.

Developmental Editing is dependant on the project. As this process looks at the bigger picture of the overall manuscript or work in development, an hourly fee is charged when working on, reading for feedback, editing, or giving any strategic advice.

Proofreading is applied after the initial editing process, as a final and intensive edit to pick up any spelling mistakes, errors of fact or formatting.

Sample Edits are 1,000 words taken from anywhere in the manuscript for a small fee.
